(Reuters) – Venezuela’s President Hugo Chavez, who is criticized by media freedom groups, called on Saturday for regulation of the Internet and singled out a website that he said falsely reported the murder of one of his ministers.

When asked what incident set him off, President Chavez elaborated, “I was chatting on AIM with this guy crazyacexo who I thought was cool. He was like, check out this video, it’s me beating up a bunch of capitalists. Obviously I clicked the link, my excitement rising along with my blood pressure. To my dismay, the link he gave me was for something called ‘Lemon’s Party’ and the images portrayed an act that has not yet been invented in my country. I will never forgive you, the internet.”

In other news, Verizon has applauded Chavez’ ideas on this matter. “He is obviously a smart guy if he’s been in office so long. Humans have long proven that they are not worthy enough to have freedom. Remember when they thought it would be a good idea to give blacks and women the right to vote? How’d that turn out? The country’s gone to shit.”
