Brunswick County | A 19-year-old man was charged with obstruction of justice last week after authorities say he drove an acquaintance around after his passenger was deceased, officials said.

The incident occurred Wednesday when Eric Len Henry Jr. did not immediately notify authorities of the death of John Ferguson, 23, of Leland, according to Beth Boling of the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office.

Instead of taking Ferguson to the hospital, Henry drove him around for a couple hours, Boling said. Authorities suspect Ferguson died of a drug overdose, but they are awaiting for an autopsy to determine the cause of death, Boling said.

Give the guy a break, some people have trouble saying goodbye. In this case, Eric had to run some errands before he could truly “let go.” And besides that guy deserved it, if you’re gonna sit shotgun on a road trip, you gotta help the driver stay awake. That was a poor fuckin effort on his part…a poor fuckin effort.
