The Chinese Exterminate Gerbils…With a Morning After Pill

BEIJING – Forestry officials in far western China have resorted to scattering abortion pills near gerbil burrows in a bid to halt a rodent plague threatening the desert region’s fragile ecosystem, state media said Wednesday. The pellets, which resemble bran feed, have “little effect on other animals,” but can prevent pregnancy in gerbils and also induce abortion in already pregnant females, the official Xinhua News Agency said.

While the debate still runs rampid here in the U.S., Chinese people have made abortion a commonplace in their society. China is home to nearly 20% of the entire world’s population, that’s over four times the population in the U.S. today. It is understandable they would look for any means necessary to clear space in their cluttered world. When they aren’t trying to pawn newborn girls off to adopting families in the U.S., they are removing rodents at a record pace. In addition, they continue to reinforce the great wall in an effort to keep immigrants out. Unfortunately their efforts are often spoiled by Mongolian attacks.

In related news, the Chinese have hired Peruvian flute bands to ward off the growing guinea pig population.
